2018 Mazda CX-5 vs 2018 Ford Explorer in Sacramento, CA

With so many SUVs on the market, how do you decide which one is best for you? The frustrating answer is just that you need to compare their features and specs, but don’t worry. The experienced team at Maita Automotive Group has taken care of that for you, so we’ll show you what we discovered by comparing the dependable 2018 Mazda CX-5 against the 2018 Ford Explorer. It’s pretty clear which one came out on top! If you have any questions about how to shop with us, give us a call or send us a message in the contact form below.

Performance

You’ll accelerate much more convincingly in the 2018 Mazda CX-5 than you will in the 2018 Ford Explorer. The standard SKYACTIV®1-G 2.5L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine with Cylinder Deactivation touts an athletic 187 horsepower and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. The Ford Escape merely has a 2.5L Duratec engine that produces 168 horsepower and 170 lb.-ft. of torque. Usually, vehicles with more power use fuel less efficiently, but that’s not the case here. The CX-5 will maintain an exceptional fuel economy of 25/31 MPG city/hwy2 with FWD, and the Explorer will only manage 21/29/24 MPG city/hwy/combined2. If you decide to get AWD in either vehicle, the CX-5 still outdoes the Explorer with its impressive fuel economy of 24/30 MPG city/hwy2 and the Ford’s less accomplished 22/28/24 MPG city/hwy/combined2 fuel rating.

Interior

The 2018 Ford Explorer’s interior doesn’t even come close to providing the same level of comfort that you’ll get out of the 2018 Mazda CX-5. The Ford only has manual climate control, while the CX-5 has a more robust air conditioning system with a pollen filter for crisp, clean air. The CX-5 also has speed-sensitive door locks with 2-stage unlocking, a safety precaution that doesn’t have an equivalent in the 2018 Explorer. Part of the appeal of a mid-size SUV is the ability to focus on passenger or cargo space, and the CX-5 will give you a bit more freedom to do so with its 40/20/40 split one-touch fold-down and reclining rear seatback. The Explorer has much less flexible 60/40 split-fold-flat rear seat backs. You’ll also enjoy greater luxury in the Mazda with its standard leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector. The standard Explorer trim merely has cheap urethane materials.

Exterior

Daytime Running Lights are essential to making sure that other drivers see you in the day, and they come standard in the 2018 Mazda CX-5. They’re optional in the 2018 Ford Escape. Lastly, the Mazda’s dual exhaust outlets with a bright finish give it that extra touch of style to push it over the top.

This is just the beginning of the ways we could compare the 2018 Mazda CX-5 vs 2018 Ford Explorer in Sacramento, CA, and it’s pretty clear which vehicle is superior. Give the Mazda a try at Maita Automotive Group. Get on Route 99 and visit us whenever you have the opportunity!

Brian Butcher that works here is the best! He seriously helped me out figuring out what was needed, and also went beyond that (i was having a problem with the work done at Pep Boys off folsom blvd) let me know some Important information about parts that were missing on my cat. From Pep Boys! And the people/person that worked on my car did an exceptional job! I feel SO much better after getting it done here! This is the spot to take your car if you want it done right! I found out the hard way, but let's just say i was paid in full for the huge mess Pep Boys did! Oh, and I personally will NEVER go to Pep Boys. But Thank you so much Toyota for Everything! You all rock!

The sraff was wonderful....not pushy or annoying like some dealerships. Knowledgeable sales people...I may be buying a car from them but I am not sure since I am still doing research. I have had two Toyota vehicles in the past one was totalled and the other 1998 is still running great for my son who bought it from me.
